Local car park operator Parking Eye has pledged its support for the Sundown Team Challenge, which will take place at Fistral Beach on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd June as part of the UK Pro Surf Tour.
The event is the first ever UK Pro Surfing Association team event and the biggest surf team event so far this year. Legendary UK surfers, many from Newquay, will be competing in teams of four to win a prize of £1,000, pledged by Parking Eye.
Also part of the event will be an under-16s professional surf challenge for the next generation of surf stars and the first ever surf contest for people with learning difficulties, run by charity the Wave Project. There will be live music and entertainment at Fistral Beach Bar from 9:00pm-12:00am on both nights.
“Parking Eye is committed to the Fistral Beach community, and we are pleased to sponsor this brand new competition. We encourage everyone to come down and take part in one or both days, and are particularly excited about supporting the next generation of British surfers who will be taking part in the youth event,” says a spokesperson from Parking Eye.
The Director of the UK Pro Surf Tour, Dave Reed, says the challenge will raise the profile of British surfing.
“This part of the UK is renowned for its great surf, and so it makes the ideal location for the first ever UKPSA team event. This is a great opportunity to see some of the UK’s best in their natural environment – the ocean. It will be a great day out for all the family with even more entertainment kicking on into the night,” says Dave.
The Parking Eye Sundown Team Challenge will take place from 12:00pm-9:00pm on Saturday 23rd June. The onsite car park is at Fistral Beach and there is more parking available at Tower Road car park, which is a few minutes’ walk from the competition.
