Watergate Wave Information
Watergate works best around High tide, when the sand banks, rips and general shape of the beach help create peaks up and down the beach.
At mid to low tide the wave tends to close out, but this is subject to the formation of sandbanks. At the north end around low tide good peaks can be found.
Best tide time to surf: 1-2 hours before high tide on
Best wind direction: Light Offshore East, but will be offshore from South East to North East.
Swell Directions: a south west swell creates more peaky conditions, straight west swells generally close out a little more.
Hazards: Strong rips at low tide, Crowds |
